Olivia Millen

Professional Placement Student

Olivia Millen

Olivia is joining Stopgap this year as a professional placement student as part of an MA programme through the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

Olivia graduated the BA (Hons) course at NSCD in 2024 and throughout her training she had the opportunity to work with artists including Gary Clarke, Antonio Bukhar, Joseph Mercier and Imogen Reeve, as well as Erion Krujafor for a restaging of Hofesh Schecher’s ‘Grand Finale’. She’s also worked with Dora Frankle on research and development for ‘Poe Saga’ and Balbir Dance Company for a Shakespeare Birthplace Trust collaboration.

Olivia’s own practice is driven by the importance of connection and how we can focus this into our movement to feel true to ourselves and find joy. She’s also driven by community and the ways we can support each other to grow. Alongside dance, Olivia’s interests include writing poetry, being in nature, cooking/baking and being a personal entertainer for her family.

Olivia is very excited to experience company life with Stopgap, to be surrounded by many inspirational people and learn how we can advocate for change.
