The Road to Becoming an IRIS Teacher
Our Interim Co-Artistic Director (Maternity Cover), Siobhan, outlines the 6 easy steps to becoming an IRIS teacher...
Following the successful launch of our inclusive dance syllabus IRIS, we are interested in hearing from potential IRIS teachers. If you run an inclusive dance group and you’re eager to become an IRIS teacher, take a look at the steps to follow below:
1: Come and take part in one of our Inclusive Teacher Training CPDs. These days are all about introducing you to Stopgap’s approach to inclusive dance.
2: Send an expression of interest email. Email [email protected] expressing your interest in becoming an IRIS teacher.
3: Arrange to come and shadow one of our existing IRIS teachers. This is a chance for us to get to know you a little better and for you to see what IRIS looks like in practice.
4: Attend a ’Slice Day’. Spend time with us learning the content of our inclusive syllabus including exercises, improvisations and games.
5: Take part in our IRIS Summer School where you will receive training in Stopgap’s inclusive approach and ethos; tips and training on delivering IRIS and plenty of opportunities to practice and receive feedback on your teaching.
6: Start teaching your IRIS group!
