Artsmark Partner Organisation
Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools and education settings, awarded by Arts Council England, recognising their commitment to high quality arts and cultural education.
As an Artsmark Partner Organisation, Stopgap Dance Company is proud to be supporting schools and education settings on their Artsmark journey; inspiring children and young people to create, experience, and participate in great arts and culture.
We offer creative dance workshops, artist presentations and CPD’s. These can be tailored to the needs/themes of the setting. Engagement opportunities also include attending a performance as an audience member or visiting the company as part of a work experience placement.
As a dance company who employ innovative disabled and non-disabled dancers, our workshops have a strong focus on integration and inclusion, utilising both dance skills and creativity to demonstrate that dance is accessible to everyone. Our artist presentations give an insight into the life of a professional dancer and pathways into the profession. This can specifically include an insight into the additional challenges faced by and accomplishments of our unique dancers.
As one of the GCSE Dance Anthology companies, we offer student workshops and teacher CPD’s to compliment the study of the set work, Artificial Things.
We can also create theme-based workshops to fit in with current learning topics, which can cover various aspects of the curriculum in a creative and physical manner. Such as Science (movement inspired by planets and stars), Maths (probability and chance)
Benefits and learning outcomes of our workshops include:
- Appreciation of diverse bodies and minds
- Development of active citizenship and social cohesion
- Improved understanding and expression of own physicality
- Team work and cooperation skills
- Independent learning
- Improved creative decision making
Our bespoke workshops are designed to be flexible and responsive to the participants. Our work spans a wide variety of ages and abilities, from KS2 to professionals. Projects can range in length from half a day to one week, or run as weekly sessions over a school term. They can vary from a large whole school event to small scale one-off sessions.
Costs vary depending on length of activity/number of artists delivering. Please contact us for a quote.
