Inclusive dance and IRIS teacher training
Stopgap Dance Company is really excited to announce a new inclusive dance teacher training programme starting in January 2020.
Seedbed will offer dance teachers a detailed, progressive and practical approach to teaching inclusively, and will be led by experts from within Stopgap and from the wider inclusive dance industry.
The programme will run from January to the end of May 2020.
On completion of the programme practitioners will be able to learn, explore and use Stopgap’s dance teaching syllabus IRIS, as used by their community dance groups throughout the UK and abroad. Being a part of IRIS will also enable the teacher to become part of an invaluable support network of like minded inclusive dance teachers and gain access to regular contact time with Stopgap Dance Company.
Seedbed will support the teacher’s practice when working with physically diverse dancers, neuro diverse dancers, and dancers who are hard to reach. The programme is structured so that Stopgap’s inclusive approach is regularly revisited and developed throughout the teacher’s learning. There will be plenty of time to practice, reflect and trial new tools, ideas and language throughout the programme.
