Floyd graduated from the University of Surrey in 2016, with a Bachelor Honours degree in Film Studies & Creative Writing. During this time he completed a successful internship at Bold Content Video Ltd. and as part of his practical dissertation, produced a silent short film exploring deafness with Cherie Brennan as lead role.
In January 2017, after a brief stint in Film & Television advertising, Floyd reignited an active hobby as a YouTuber and began a professional career as a freelance filmmaker, going on to collaborate with numerous artists and organisations on a variety of film projects.
From early 2018 to late 2019, Floyd worked with musical artist Leee John (former lead singer of 80s band “Imagination”) on “Flashback” – a feature length documentary 10 years in the making, chronicling the history of UK black music.
In August 2018, Floyd became a member of the National Youth Film Academy, working on 6 short films; Job It (2018), #Goals (2019), Newborn (2019), Jester (2019), On In 15 (2019), The Man In the Suit (2020) – 3 of which achieved success on the film festival circuit. Floyd also worked on the set of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” Amazon Prime series in London, October 2018.
His earliest involvement with Stopgap dates back to 2014; Floyd was a key member of crew for Stopgap’s 2017 tour production “The Enormous Room”, and has gone on to work on numerous video projects for Stopgap’s social media platforms. As well as filmmaking, Floyd has had a continuous active involvement in annual events associated with Stopgap, such as “Farnham in Bloom”, the Winter Platform and supporting one of Stopgap’s Youth Company classes “Stepping Stones”.
Floyd currently collaborates with Stopgap on Home Practice and is working with Sg2 on a documentary dance film.
