Assistant Artistic Director (Future Leaders Programme)

William Spencer

William is a proudly queer and neurodivergent director, choreographer and movement director who trained at Bird College Conservatoire whilst being a Student Ambassador to the McOnie Company and a Scholarship student of Frantic Assembly’s Masterclass. More recently, he was part of the Young Vic’s Fresh Direction Cohort. He has been four time Offie nominated for his work over musical theatre, ballet, pantomime and plays.

William is dedicated to using dance and theatre as accessible art forms, citing active anti-elitism as a propelling force in his work. He now seeks to extend this reach as a creative, bringing high-quality theatre to all through the inclusive power of non-verbal communication and dance. His work champions theatre as a universally moving and enjoyable experience, uniting audiences through relatable content.

Some of his work includes, Be More Chill, Coppelia and The Supermarket Suite, Grindr the Opera, A-Typical Rainbow, (Un)Fit To Work (Channel 4) and LOL Surprise! Celebrate the Crew (Sony Music).

His work in teaching has included the prestigious Pineapple Dance Studios, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the International College of Musical Theatre.
