On the Way to My Body by Kazuyo Morita

An abstract image of golden lights, lots of small bursts glowing in and out of focus.

On the Way to My Body is a sound work created by Japanese artist Kazuyo Morita. Working between English and her native tongue, she explores the fluid nature of identity, embodiment, space and perception.

A wide-ranging and intimate journey through her bodily landscape, Kazuyo reconceives the internal layers of the body as places of exchange through unique sensory signals and reshapes exterior surfaces using language and metaphor as she locates herself in a process of self-realisation.

Creative Transcripts

As Dance Tapes is audio-based, we wanted to provide access for those whose sensory experience doesn’t prioritise sound. We’ve created transcripts that notate all spoken text and include descriptions of the soundtrack and music, supporting all listeners to engage with the audio work – not just Deaf audiences, but also those with different levels of audio-processing. We encourage you to explore these as you listen.
