Company Dancer Auditions 2022

Published:

Stopgap Dance is interested in meeting experienced, collaborative dance artists with strong contemporary dance skills, a personal artistic voice, and an engaging stage presence.

A slender white dancer with short brown hair mid-movement. They lift their arms freely as they sway sideways, opening up space beneath their right arm and staring downwards. The photo frames their upper torso and arms, other dancers edge into the background and large windows to the outside reflect the blue and green tones of their t-shirt.

We have a number of new productions in development and want to increase our pool of highly skilled dancers that we’re considering for these projects.

We are keen to learn from generous, patient, and positive dance artists who value inclusion, access, and equity. An authentic interest in collaborative movement making, learning from others and creative outreach is very much valued by Stopgap.

We will be offering freelance contracts for future projects including Chris Pavia Projects and Stopgap’s next indoor touring show due to be created later this year and touring throughout 2023-2024.

If you want to find out more about the company’s practice and ethos, potential applicants can also attend our Creative Tank, a three-day inclusive dance intensive that opens up the company’s current practice to other like-minded dance artists. Creative Tank takes place on the 5th, 6th & 7th April 2022 at Guildford School of Acting, Surrey University.

Auditions will be held at Siobhan Davies Studios on Wednesday 20th April, 10-5pm

A personal invitation is required to attend this audition.

The audition will consist of a short warm up, set material, improvisation and a creative task (there is no need to prepare anything)

Deadline for applications: Wednesday 6th April

We are especially interested in receiving applications from Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent dancers, and encourage you to get in touch to discuss any access needs that would make attending an audition easier.

Please make us aware of any access needs and we will do our best to accommodate them in advance and on the day. A BSL interpreter / lip-speaker / speech-to-text reporter can be provided for you if you let us know in advance and the space will be fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Please let us know if there is anything we’ve not mentioned that would be helpful for you and facilitate you giving us your best on the day.

Additionally, if you need any support with submitting your application (an audio file is also fine) please contact james@stopgapdance.com
