Stopgap Dance Company are thrilled to announce that our long serving colleague Laura Jones will be taking on the role of Co-Artistic Director.

Laura joined Stopgap as a dancer in 2001 and became the Head of Talent Development in 2016, playing a crucial role in pioneering inclusive dance practice alongside fellow Co-Artistic Director Lucy Bennett and Resident Choreographer Chris Pavia.

On her new role and the future Laura says:

“I’m very excited. I’ve been a member of Stopgap for over 20-years, and the company has been growing the whole time I’ve been here. I’ve been very much a part of this journey, and I’m thrilled to be taking on this position to make sure its pioneering inclusive practice continues to be firmly embedded for the future.

I’m looking forward to bringing my lived experience of being a disabled person, a dance artist and educator into the Co-Artistic Director’s role and to share my perspective with colleagues inside and outside of the company. I’m particularly looking forward to continuing to play an integral part in the development of fellow disabled dancers for the company and for the sector.”

Laura will be taking on this new role from 1st November.
