Shadows on the moon

(working title)

A new duet by Christopher Pavia

Having successfully created the outdoor dance work The Awakening in 2014, Stopgap Dance Company has teamed up with the Brighton based inclusive arts organisation Carousel to support Chris with his next challenge - to create an indoor work for touring to small scale theatres. The Awakening toured to prominent outdoor festivals and received great feedback, and Stopgap and Carousel are now looking for theatre programmers to go on a similar journey with Chris. We are looking for small-scale theatres to support the creation of work in early 2019 with the view to touring from August 2019 onwards.

Shadows on the Moon is a dynamic dance work that visualises the gravitational power in the universe. Chris will create the piece in collaboration with a team of digital artists and technicians from Carousel and the Stopgap dancers Christian Brinklow and Nadenh Poan. The collaboration will result in a visually stunning work that integrates the dancers’ physicality with digital imagery of cosmic explosions.

Stopgap have already supported Chris to do a series of Research and Development, and you can see a short video here.

In addition to presenting an exciting duet and digital projection work, Stopgap and Carousel will work closely with venues to conduct audience development activities for learning disabled communities and to attract existing audiences to see works by some of the leading learning disabled artists.
